ABOUT

On the Distrust & Disparities podcast we discuss health disparities that disproportionately affect the Black community. We examine current and historical cases of medical injustices within the American healthcare system. And we explore the unique barriers and challenges Black people encounter while navigating this system.

It’s no secret that the American healthcare system leaves many people feeling unseen and unheard. Research shows that Black people and other ethnic minorities receive significantly lower qualities of healthcare than white people, even when age, income, insurance status, and severity of conditions are comparable.

We also amplify organizations and individuals working to dismantle racist health practices and systems to improve health outcomes for marginalized communities.

Distrust & Disparities is hosted by Jasmyn Moore, a registered nurse, and co-hosted by Camille White, a health advocate.

HOSTS

Jasmyn Moore

Jasmyn Moore MBA, BSN RN is a registered nurse and health care change maker, who is passionate about dismantling health disparities that disproportionately affect Black women and Black families.

She has a wide variety of clinical experience, including community health, emergency & trauma, nursing education, and case management. Working with underserved communities inspired her to create the Distrust & Disparities podcast to provide a voice to those negatively impacted by medical injustices in the American healthcare system.

She wants to inspire individuals to advocate for proper healthcare treatment for themselves and educate health professionals on how to check their racial bias.

Host, Registered Nurse

Camille White is a fierce health advocate and spirited co-host of the Distrust & Disparities podcast. She has experience in business operations, specializing in human resources, administrative and program management support.

Her interest in addressing health disparities was sparked after learning about the countless number of Black women dying in childbirth and the inadequate response to address the Black maternal mortality crisis in the United States.

She wants to fight to bring more attention to this injustice and amplify people working to close the gap on health disparities.
