Funding & Sustaining Health Justice Work with Dr. Omolara Uwemedimo

November 3, 2023

Dr. Omolara Uwemedimo

Pediatrician, Health Equity Consultant

Dr. Omolara Uwemedimo helps BIPOC health care providers reduce burnout and make more money all while increasing their health equity impact in communities of color.

After an M.S. diagnosis in 2019, Dr. Omolara’s physical and mental health could no longer sustain her work as a professor, researcher and pediatrician co-founder at Strong Children Wellness. Dr. Omolara became a healthcare consultant to community clinics, securing over $1 million in funding in less than two years, without any loans or investors. That led her to found Melanin & Medicine, where she teaches other physicians and health care providers how to secure grants, contracts and alternative payments to help them scale and increase their impact serving communities of color, without the burnout that can come with patient care.

Dr. Omolara has spoken at the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Women’s Medical Association, Health Tech 4 Medicaid, Center for Law and Social Policy, Immigration Advocates Network, United Hospital Fund, and the Greater NY Hospital Association.
